To All Aphrodites Worldwide

International Women’s Day 8th of March

Happy Wemen's Day

Happy Women’s Day

~ ~ ~ The Greatest Gift to Man is Woman … ~ ~ ~

Did you know that my friends ? But don’t forget that :
“Women are made to be loved, not understood.”–Oscar Wilde

❦  Happy Women’s Day and Mimosa Flowers for You my Friends ❦

Women & Acacia

Women & Acacia

Yellow Mimosa is the symbol of International Women’s Day.

❦ It all started in Rome in 1946 — of men giving their wives, mothers, daughters, and other women friends sprigs of bright yellow Mimosa flowers on March 8. Women have since also started to give Mimosa to each other. The flowers are intended as a sign of respect for the women and an expression of solidarity with the women in their support for oppressed women worldwide.

❦ The Theme for the Women’s day this year is “Empowering Women—Empowering Humanity ” ,and it envisions a world where each woman and girl can exercise their choices, such as participating in politics, getting an education, having an income, and living in societies free from violence and discrimination” according to the official United Nations statement.

❤ Happy Sunday and Women’s Day ❤

❦ Women are the real architects of society.” Harriet Beecher Stowe … Aren’t they ?

NB: Acacia (Mimosa),is a word of Greek origin which means guileless.Did you know that my friends ?

We are guileless, however,it’s a euphemistic word … Are you mystified … ? lol … They want to propitiate us,they offer ( A=non-cacia= ill will ) Acacia flowers …

Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, sprung from the Foam of the Blue Ocean …

Sprung from the foam of the blue ocean

Re-born  from the foam of the blue ocean

❦  Re-born … 8th of March …

❤ Happy Sunday and Women’s Day ❤

You chose a appropriate Oscar Wild quote
“There is only one thing worse than being talked about, that is not being talked about.” just would not have been apt.
Acacia dealbata, known as silver, blue or mimosa, is a species of Acacia and is a plant native to Australia.

    • Oh,what an honour to have a visitor from Down Under to my Aphrodite!Thank God mine is outside my study in the garden and is generously washed by sunlight. She has read your comment too and she is sweetly smiling! Can you see her my friend? Our Acacia trees are thriving in the garden, but I didn’t know they were introduced from Australia.I’ll tell our gardener to be more attentive to them. _/\_

  3. Ah, dearest Doda, how I enjoyed your loving tribute to Women in this post. Women have come so far, and yet there is a long way to go before equality is easily acknowledged. It is tributes like this that lend a wonderful and uplifting reminder to all women. I thank you so very much for bringing heightened awareness to a most important day and cause. My best wishes to you dear friend… 😀 😀

  6. Beautiful post dear Doda… Aphrodite is certainly the Goddess who I believe best depicts Femininity… The Greek Goddess of Love and Beauty! …. Who else?… 😎 As to the yellow Mimosa flowers I didn’t know that they became symbols of Women… Thank you very much for teaching me that, my friend. Have a wonderful day! Love, Aquileana 😀

  8. Thank you, dear Doda, for this lovely post! Sending Mimosa to you! Of course, also sending my best wishes, love and hugs! I’ve always thought if righteous women were in charge of the things of this world, everything would be handled promptly and properly! 😀 ❤

    • Oh my sweet Linda, how overjoyed I feel to see you here leaving your wise thoughts.
Seemingly, men of this world don’ t consider righteous women powerful enough to govern the world. They might be scared of our “integrity”,but if they were righteous enough, they would never have seen us as the “fair sex” only and then the world would be heaven … and everything would be handled promptly and properly as you have so wisely stated it.Love & hugs to you back my lovely friend and heartfelt wishes for a brilliant new week 🙂 ❤ xxx

  16. I am not sure why but this is not a big event in the UK. I first came across it when visiting Riga and it happened to be IWD.

    • I am not sure either, and I don’t really know why it is not a big event in Greece and some other European countries.
Presumably, because we deserve to be honoured every day of the year, not just one or,as a good friend from UK says : “OK,ok.Today is Women`s Day ….I accept that ….then the other 364 are Men`s days !!!! lol
Any how,it’s nice to commemorate IWD and look back on past struggles and accomplishments and programmes that advanced the status of women worldwideand. Thanks kindly for leaving your thoughts Andrew Dear;hadn’t seen you around for ages.
