Over Earth and Ocean the Spirit I Love remains …

The “True Colours of Parga” awoke my senses and the Venetian Castle on the hill created an atmosphere of Romanticism with a much wider meaning and an intuitive feeling that the human nature can transcend any situations and circumstances.Over Earth and Ocean the Spitit I love remains and puts the imagery above any reason. My feelings enabled me to see that “Beauty is Truth” & inspires our self-expression & the intensity of our emotions.

The True Colours of Parga

My eyes rest on motley facades,my gaze on the Powerful Walls of the Venetian Castle on the top of a hill overlooking the blue Ionian Sea. I’ve touched the defiant Walls, I remember their sounds … The sea breeze caresses my thoughts as they drop down into the blue seas along with the grey rocks and the verdant tree branches …

But the boughs of the tree trunks obscured the view over the ocean and the little islets that punctuated its blue attire.I had to draw the branch curtains and start writing my own story …

The Island of Panayia On the Shore of the Ionian Sea & a Pilgrimage to a Tiny Chapel off the Coast …

I drew the branch-curtains and wrote my own short story looking through the treetrunks on a high hill overlooking the “Virgin Mary-Island” …
On top of the islet, which is located opposite Parga town, lies the tiny, whitewashed chapel of Panagia. On August 15th, the name day of the Virgin Mary, it is usually crowed by the faithful who arrive by taxi boats. There is also another little chapel dedicated to Saint Nicholas, and the ruins of a small fort built by the French in 1808.This is the Short Story of the Little Church Smack in the Centre of the “Virgin Mary-Island” ,taken from an elevated vantage point in order to Fill the Frame and Give Religious Depth …

NB:The old city of Parga at the time of Plutarch and Ptolemy was the ancient Toryni, which was situated at the current location of the town … (Click on each photo to enlage,to see the details)
