Into the realms of clouds

Alas, there are so many things between heaven and earth of which only the poets have dreamed. And especially above the heavens … Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche

Showing signs of life after my long absence from the wonderful WordPress Land as some kind Ladies and very special friends kept popping by to leave their comments on my ‘ARCHIVAL” Blog lol …

Have you ever had a cluttered and completely uncontrollable email inbox, after coming back from your holidays? That’s simply a rhetorical question to excuse my inexcusable absence.I think it’s time to reconsider my strategies and try to be more practical.Oftentimes, just a “Like”,or a very short comment can save the situation …

I usually want to read every single post extensively and enjoy all the details in the beautiful photos included, and leave verbose comments … Nevertheless,it’s absolutely impossible especially when I am holidaying … You know,Greece has a very long and hot summer and some lovely islands … And,our wondrous world has numerous places to visit and experience the “different” from every historical or cultural angle.

Here come some summer sunlit images for you to see who carried me away …

Let me show you  Amphitheatric Argostoli …

Amphitheatric Argostoli ...

Amphitheatric Argostoli …

Argostoli in Kefalonia (Cephalonia),the largest of the Ionian Islands.

Amphitheatrically built with a view to Koutavos Lagoon and surrounded by mountains and forests with lush green vegetation.

Rich in history and culture, probably best known as the location of “Captain Correlli’s Mandolin” film which depicts the Island’s WWII history.Few though notice Byron Street in the city of Argostoli, they are mostly fascinated by the blue lagoon, the wetland with its rich flora and fauna.

The Great Philhellene poet Lord Byron stayed in Kefalonia for four months before joining the Greek Garrison in Mesolongi, where he died in April 1824,fighting in the Greek War of Independence.
He wrote some of his most famous poems sitting on a rock known as “The Rock of Byron”.It is situated near Kallithea,an impressive observation post facing Zakynthos (Zante).
There is an inscribed marble plaque on the rock with his words :

“The poet that I am, I owe to the air of Greece”. Lord Byron

Crete is also a beautiful island in the Aegean Sea,many the photos I could share, but little my spare time … Besides,it’s an “urgent stop over” …

I’m not a Greek in here,I’m a Cretan …

And, dazzling the sunsets from Myrtos Beach,as intense as the sunsets in my beloved Santorini,I’ll show you some other time;here is a solar parallax to see what I mean,to write the epilogue of my “urgent stop over” …

I haven’t blogged since January until just recently, so I’m sorry to say that I don’t know how you’ve been during that time. I hope life has treated you well, though, and it’s nice to see you again now. Much love, Lauren

I’ve visited Crete, Rhodes and Corfu, and desperately want to see Santorini – and I long to see Athens. Your post has been a fabulous way for you to return to WP (even if it is only a flying visit!). Now here is another interesting story, My grandfather on my Dad’s side was from south of Naples. I had my Dna done which of course showed the Scots and Irish but instead of Italian the percentage says Italian Greek! So there you go- oh but there was also a spatter of western Asia and middle east- and Scandinavian! None of us are ever pure anything lol!!

  23. What a beautiful post upon your return to blogland! Yes, you have been missed! You’ll probably laugh at this, but two things come to mind when I think of Greece. One is an old Disney movie called “Moonspinners” with Hayley Mills that takes place in Greece. The other is my visits to Tarpon Springs, Florida (also known as little Greece)! They dive for sponges there, too! Anyway, before I begin rambling, let me say that I completely understand your “frustrations” with blogging. I, too, always want to leave comments on each of the posts I visit but too often I only have time to either say just a few words or leave a “Like.” Just know that I’m happy you’re back and you don’t ever have to feel like you need to take the time you don’t have to comment. Don’t misunderstand, I do love it when you do! Haha! Welcome home and looking forward to seeing and hearing more from you! Love and hugs, my friend! 😀
