The Rink At Rockefeller Center, one of the most famous Ice Rinks in the World & New York City’s most celebrated attraction in the heart of Midtown, steps from Times Square & the Theater District.Despite the icy rink all was heartwarming in here,it was Love & Prometheus Flame that kept it warm …

” I believe that Love is the greatest thing in the World; that it alone can overcome hate; that right can and will triumph over might.” John D. Rockefeller

Timeless quotes conveying strong messages especially during this very special Season …

PROMETHEUS (1934)
Paul Manship American sculptor 1885 – 1966

Prometheus gilded statue in Rockefeller Center by the famous American sculptor Paul Manship depicts the Greek Titan who went against the wishes of the Gods and provided fire to humanity for civilization and progress.Over time, this classical figure came to represent human striving and the quest for knowledge.Prometheus played a large role in the approach to the art and architecture in the Complex since the overall theme of the project was :

“New Frontiers and the March of Civilization.”

The inscription that accompanies the sculpture, taken from the sixth-century B.C. Greek dramatist Aeschylus reads:

“Prometheus, teacher in every art, brought the fire that hath proved to mortals a means to mighty ends.”

Wherever I go,Greece goes on travelling, always travelling with me … I thought.

I wanted to see more as “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” said Benjamin Franklin and visions of future glory always tantalize me …

She is a brave fighter,a classic WW II Supermarine Spitfire in a rather unusual position of being on the ground, rather than in the air.Kelvingrove Galley & Museum opened in 1901 as the Palace of Fine Arts in the Glasgow International Exhibition and it is the most visited museum in the United Kingdom outside of London. It houses an eclectic mix of world-class fine art exhibits, archeological artifacts & natural history displays.I wish I could see All Fighters Frozen in mid-flight for Ever & Peace within & among all people & nations on Earth. … ♥ 彡★彡

I felt like having more Glaswegian “spirit”,in an old pub this time. The Scotia Pub was very near.My Scottish friends say that if it’s character and charm you’re after, you won’t find better than the Scotia,Glasgow’s oldest pub.It keeps customers happy since 1792.

iPiccy-collage.jpgPOOL & BEER

Cheers to you from Glasgow’s oldest pub with a glass of Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky straight from the Deanston Distillery …

iPiccy-collage.jpg gathering stars

The Christmassy white Orchids in the hotel were beautiful and the Strands of Fairy Lights in the streets & stores of Glasgow were beckoning me,the market skipped higher with glamorous Christmas lights to full blown in a dazzling array to bring a smile and spark of holiday magic into people’s hearts who gleefully anticipated the Cristmastide.

I left the festal glory and the ritzy glowing lights behind me and kept seeking the Oldest Star in the night sky to give me the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven where Unseen Angels pour Blessings and Joy.

I ,like Nelly Sachs, wonder who knows where the stars stand
in the Creator’s Hierarchy of Glory and where Peace begins;
where a space has been left for a heart to pound …
In the beginning is yearning, the heart always has room for more, for something more beautiful, greater ;that is Man’s greatness and need; yearning for silence, for friendship and love. And where yearning is stilled,it starts up even stronger …

A Loving,Caring Heart is like a Sky that pours Light … The pure white orchids were magically interspersed with sparks and festal glory but my heart led me to Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum. The Organ was playing ♩♪♫♬ ..”You will Never Walk Alone”

All was quiet in Royal Exchange Square.Beautiful the neoclassical and historical mansion and the portico with the magnificent row of the huge Corinthian Columns. The bronze equestrian statue of the Duke of Wellington was imposingly standing in front of the building. It’s Baron Marochetti’s work unveiled in 1844 before a large number of Waterloo veterans.

PS:Traffic Cones are firmly placed on the head of the Duke of Wellington and on the head of the horse. Is it because the equestrian statue stands outside the Gallery of Modern Art …? Let the locals speak …,it’s a Glasgow affair that started around 30-40 years ago …

And,last but not least,my Little Present for You to Toast The New Year.

iPiccy-collage.jpgcorinthian venue

I bought it from the Corinthian Club,Glasgow’s most iconic and visually stunning venue,a five floor entertainment complex with long history behind.I wrapped it in a resplendent History paper and offer it to you …

It stands on the site of the renowned 18th century Virginia Mansion, famed as being one of the finest private residences in Glasgow. The location itself is historic and symbolizes the social and commercial development of Glasgow in the 18th and 19th centuries. It’s one of the city’s most elaborate and richly decorated buildings, embellished over many decades by highly acclaimed architects. In 1920 it was converted into judiciary courts, one of the UK’s finest Victorian interiors, but many of its features were hidden from public view behind false walls and ceilings. In 1999 it was painstakingly restored as The Corinthian.Details such as the Doric pilastrade, elaborate cornicing,26 foot glass dome, superb sculptural plasterwork, free standing classical figures, fixtures and fittings remain as impressive and spectacular as they were in the 1800s.In 2010,after being extensively refurbished,it opened its doors once again as “The Corinthian Club”.
The iconic Corinthian dome remains a focal point, located directly above Teller’s Bar and Brasserie,a space which was once the route to the court cells.

** Well,Clio and her sisters always come down from mountain Helicon and follow me … ; its Ancient Greek name “Corinthian” prompted me,I allured you with champagne in order to talk about the Glaswegian gem.

      • Hi dear Doda,, BIG smiles to see your reply.. Yes the Beast is here, lol, and Emma is arriving. Snow is 9 inches deep and our allotment well covered. but we got some veggies out before the snow and the potatoes are well insulated in their bags in the shed
And yes chaos is the word.. No one has gone to work on our street.. snow preventing travel. Minus 3C out with a windchill of feeling Minus 10.. Brrrrr… but we are snug and well.. Thank you take care.. Love and Hugs ❤ ❤ xxx

            • Yes,dear Sue,they are all fine like you. They said that Saturday morning was very cold and icy.Sooner or later though the sun will come out again and will drive away Emma & the Beast.Oh gosh,it sounds like an opera … Have a peaceful weekend with less snow and cold.Stay safe & warm,my friend 🙂 night, night xxx

Btw,I found a quiet moment today and decided to prepare a post, but after adding some more photos into my WP gallery, all went blank and I had to buy more space.Paid € 48 and fortunately they came back, but I had other commitments and didn’t go one.Probably tomorrow night. When I bought the space there was a list saying that I can have WP.com now and some other priviledges.I have no idea about it.Any help my English Angel ? TYBH xxxxx

              • Yes the Beast and Emma have held the top headlines Doda and it may well have been an opera, but it has warranted the attention, as its been brutal. and very disruptive across the country.
Alas I can not help with paid accounts for WP, My own is free, and I have to watch my space intently, and often delete photo ‘s and posts which I know no one no longer reads.
I have heard others complaining upon there not being that much more privileges for the paid up sites, so I never bothered up grading. I dare say there will come a time when we will have to, This is why I can not stop adds on my site, its the penance you pay for it being free, they advertise to compensate.
Take care and I hope you get your post sorted Doda.. and will drop by later this weekend. 😀 xx

                • Hi again dear Sue,thankful for your response, glad that the angry beast has gone,as far as I know.Piles of snow have started thawing and soon the sun will smile at you again.I’ve no idea what to do with the domain, the only thing is that I have more space in my gallery now and less time as I was trying to see what it was and to handle it properly. It spoiled all my enthusiasm lol.If I don’t change the order, they will automatically renew it,and withdraw money;I’ll see what I’ll do with it.What annoyed me most was the fact that there was not any notice before they turned my library blank 😦 Hugs my lovely one 🙂 take care xxxxxx

I was smiling reading what I wrote to you there because the next day I had pneumonia and flu. The MR had flu and a chest infection. I did wonder why I didn’t feel quite right on Christmas Day. We have indeed been hit by the big beast. When I say it is not that bad where we are it’s not. it’s deep but it has all come in dribs and drabs. Nothing like the awful time we had in 2010. I even here we are going to get to a wedding in a village between Dundee and Perth on Saturday despite that village being snowed in. The snow ploughs and gritters are out for the bride and groom. !!!! Lots of love to you. So nice to hear from you xxxxxxxx
